T-14 hours

We are finally only one day away! In just about 12 hours we will be departing for North Carolina. Greg Hannah, leading the charge, has already touched down and is waiting anxiously for us to arrive. Stay tuned for updates all week! A different group of students will be posting each night. We cannot wait for everything that this week will bring with it.

Friday March 6, 2020 Bridget Sullivan: Hello to the folks back at home! I’m Bridget Sullivan, a sophomore Psychology and Humanities major from Syracuse, New York. Our group woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to tackle our last day duties at good ol’ Rocky Creek! We tied up some loose ends, like cleaning up signs and painting GIGANTIC electrical cable spools (coming soon to the sensory trail stations). Me, Josh, and Jordan put on our creative caps and got to work. After a final swipe of paint, our masterpiece was complete—a Villanova basketball themed spool! Luckily, we finished just in time in for lunch… Subway… again. The rest of the day was spent down by the lake house soaking in our final moments at the ranch. We squared up with some rambunctious goats and cuddled with the cutest miniature donkeys. Kate Murray:  Hi everyone! My name is Kate Murray and I am a Senior Sociology major with a Counseling minor from Northern Virginia. I actually have never been involved with LEVEL before, so I was a bit apprehensive to join LEVEL on their trip to Rocky Creek and Triple Play Farm. However, this week has continued to push me outside of my comfort zone, ultimately helping me learn and grow from my many encounters with others. Today we put the finishing touches on our service projects, which  included Mod-Podging our quilt designs and painting horse jumps. At the end of the day, Tracy and Erika led a wonderful closing reflection at Rocky Creek, allowing us to discuss the impact that groups like LEVEL can have on a community. Trisha, one of the RC staff members, broke down at one point and emotionally shared with us how heartbroken she felt when she could not join us at Rocky Creek one day this week.
