LEVEL Break Trip

March 4 2020 Michaela McGovern: Hi! My name is Michaela and I am a sophomore Finance and Real Estate major from Long Island, NY. Today was our first full day at Rocky Creek Ranch, and we had so much fun. We started off our day as usual, with an early group breakfast before we packed into the vans. At Rocky Creek we split into different groups and rotated between painting the big spools, spray painting the trail decorations, sprucing up the stations at the trail, and painting a manure spreader. No matter what work we were doing we had so much fun the entire time just simply laughing and spending time together. We also got to spend part of our day with students from the life skills class at CSD, the Community School of Davidson. We worked with the students to revitalize a life size checkerboard located on the Discovery Trail that CSD students had originally painted years ago. Tuesday March 3, 2020 Peter Nikitin: My name is Peter and I am from Brick, New Jersey. Today was a very fun day because of all the different things we did. It was a great mix of work, play, and learning. At Triple Play, we learned about service dogs, built chairs, and fed and groomed the horses. I got over some fears today was I was first apprehensive to enter the stall with Emma but as soon as I entered, we both calmed down. Then I was able to get Clyde to back up after multiple tries where he didn’t even budge. I enjoyed building the chairs because it was a lot easier than I expected and I liked collaborating with my peers. At Rocky Creek I was pleased to see that a lot of the projects they had for us were a lot of fun. I painted a spool and some of the elements of their trail. The people around me made working even more enjoyable with all the cooperation, dares, and strange but fun conversation topics. For one of the first times I my life I’m actually excited to work. ...
